A bleached staircase and matching wide plank floors form the foundation of the interior, grounding it in natural textures and muted tones. This contemporary custom home was affectionately dubbed “the little brother” to the bold, ultra-modern build next door. While it shares a similar design DNA—clean lines, a minimalistic approach, and European influences—we softened the tone for a more inviting, livable modern home.

One of the most immediate shifts from its sibling project was the introduction of light hardwood flooring throughout the home. Where the other build showcased crisp white epoxy floors, this one leaned into natural textures and a warm palette. The result? A softer, more welcoming atmosphere that still reads modern—just with a gentler edge.

To further enhance this sense of coziness, we opted to reduce the ceiling heights from 10 feet to 9 feet on both the main and second floors. While subtle, this decision helped pull the home’s scale inward, creating a more intimate feel without sacrificing openness.

To complement the clean lines throughout, we incorporated floating shadow box ceilings with integrated accent lighting.
